We’re locals. From our owner-operators to our incredible team of dedicated drivers. Local knowledge and living in the community we serve is what sets us apart. It means we care deeply about the safety and comfort of our travellers.
We’re committed to safety, reliable service, high-quality training, the wellbeing of our drivers, and a well-maintained and modern fleet. These values are underpinned by our desire to care for our community.
Over the years, we’ve grown to a fleet of 80-odd buses, coaches, and vans. This lets us provide the same friendly, customised service Torlesse travellers love throughout Canterbury and beyond.
Although we’ve grown, we haven’t forgotten our roots. To this day, our focus remains on providing safe, reliable transport for Canterbury school children and the wider community. We still serve the Oxford community and school.
The local area knowledge of our drivers, our commitment to safety and reliability, and our pursuit of modern innovation are all reasons why we’re contracted by the Ministry of Education to provide school bus services.
Being flexible is important to us when personalising charters, bus runs, ski trips, school camps and day trips. The safety of our passengers is paramount and we know how critical reliability and timeliness is. We see every trip as an opportunity to care for our community.
Our fleet of 80-odd buses, coaches, and vans are serviced and maintained in-house by our expert team of mechanics. As a result, our level of quality control and maintenance is enviable.
Having a modern, well-maintained fleet is important for every trip. School runs, day trips, or multi-day excursions. We’re committed to providing a reliable, safe service.
Our fleet is equipped with chains, cellphones, first aid kits, and drivers with first aid and emergency response training. Large storage lockers are available to accommodate bulky luggage like ski gear and school camp equipment.
We’re so focused on the safety of our passengers that we’re investing in seatbelts. While seatbelts are not required in many of our vehicles, it’s our view that they’re important. Especially for the safety of the children we transport. This is just one example of how we’re constantly innovating to deliver a safe, reliable service to our community.
We regard our drivers as the best in the business. Every Torlesse driver is qualified, experienced, and teeming with local knowledge regarding locations, routes, and terrain. We provide regular training and a positive team culture. We believe that the health and safety of our drivers directly correlate to the health and safety of our passengers, so we’ve implemented a proactive driver wellbeing program to ensure our drivers are completely focused on their very important role.
Our drivers have appropriate training for the various conditions they drive in. All Torlesse drivers hold first aid certificates and are trained in emergency response. We are happy to assist our drivers through an initiation program to achieve the required qualifications and obtain Class 2 or P licenses.
Sustainability is important at Torlesse and we adhere to modern emission standards. All new vehicles procured are a minimum of the Euro 5 emission standard rating. The Euro 5 and Euro 6 standard tightens the acceptable limits on carbon and nitrogen emissions into the atmosphere.
We’re enthusiastic about innovation and technology and we like to keep ahead of the curve and utilize best practice procedures for the sake of our environment.
We continually work towards delivering sustainable, earth-friendly transport for our customers.
